Statement:
I am a photographer and a photo-manipulator. My work is inspired by the imagined memories of nostalgic and dream-like environments; I try to document their decline into post-apocalyptic and nightmarish creations.

The themes seen on the work that I create revolve around surrealism, magic realism and realism. Most of it is inspired by melancholy, nostalgic memories, dreamy landscapes, sentimental and warm emotions to dark and brooding atmospheres; weird and nightmarish dreams; medieval fantasy to post-apocalyptic scenes; memories of being away from home and the concept of home; subjective and objective views on society and supernatural and paranormal themes. I also try to confront the modern rules and implications of today’s fast-paced society.

Michael Vincent Manalo was born in December 1986. He grew up surrounded by art and performances. Since childhood, he's been fascinated by drawing and painting and also developed a great liking to the guitar and keyboard. His passion for photography started when he was 22, and in a short time, taught himself to create photo-manipulations and montages. This quickly grew into a true passion and eventually a way of living. His works are inspired by imagined memories of nostalgic and dream-like environments, and their decline into post-apocalyptic and nightmarish creations.
