THE NEW RULES OF WRITING

This Year, 2011, is the Year of Writing and Editing
and Believing in Your Talent for Big Breakthroughs

rules

Dear Writers,

Greetings to all you writers out there with your great talent and vision.
We hope that all is well and that you are looking forward to an amazing year.

This year, we are making a resolution to achieve our goals as writers, by working at our talent every day. We are asking you to join us in our quest. We know that you have the talent to do it.

We are forming a writing band or chain, and a rededication to our talent. We are asking every one of you to commit to writing/editing no less than ten sentences every day.

We all have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, teachers and coaches, to keep us from our work. Some of us have jobs, children to raise, and other committments as well, that can easily keep us from our writing talents. But your job, as a writer, is to make the time, whatever time is left, to rededicate yourself to your art and craft as a writer. You have to make the time, take control of your world, and be the writer you want to be.

HERE ARE THE RULES WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO FOLLOW:

DON'T BE SELFISH WITH YOUR WRITING
Don't only write for yourself, your family and your needs, write for others. Write for the people around you, even if you don't know their names, but just their faces—it's okay. Remember that inspiration can come from anywhere or anyone.

HERE ARE SOME GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW WHILE YOU ARE WRITING:
Drink lots of water and hot teas. Absolutely no milk or sugar allowed.
Drink natural juices only.
You may have a light veggie soup or salad, but no dressing or cheese.
No coffee until after you finish writing, or the following day.
No cigarettes.
No strong drinks.
No food until your writing has ended.
No meat until the following day—only fish.
Try to wake up 15 to 20 minutes earlier every day, so that you can spend more time writing.
Praise yourself while you write.
Find music that inspires you and play it while you're working.
Stay positive, peaceful and humble, and in a tranquil frame of mind.
No yelling while writing.
No fighting while writing.
No television, internet, or emailing while writing.

DO YOU ONLY HAVE TO OBSTAIN FROM FOOD ALONE?
NO.
In the age of computers and technology, we can give up the following when we're writing.
No cell phones
No texting
No receiving phones calls (unless they're important)
No iPods, iPads, Games, etc.
No gossiping
No shopping (online or physical)

Whatever you're working on, give it your full attention. Any kind of distraction can break your focus or ruin a train of thought. And sometimes a great thought or idea can be lost forever. Keep your focus, stay alert, and let yourself be the writer you know you can be.

If you have any questions, thoughts or suggestions, or words of inspiration, please email us.

Good luck.
